Delegated act expected 2026
Iron and steel are intermediate materials, not finished consumer products - but they feed into construction, machinery, vehicles and appliances across the economy. The ESPR Working Plan prioritised them early precisely so that downstream product categories can inherit reliable, verified upstream data once their own delegated acts arrive.
What a iron & steel passport is expected to cover
- Recycled-content share and production route (primary vs. secondary steelmaking)
- Embodied carbon per tonne of material produced
- Presence of substances of concern
- Traceability of origin through the supply chain
- Durability and corrosion-resistance data where relevant to end use
