Delegated act expected 2027
Aluminium is the second intermediate material - after iron and steel - prioritised in the ESPR Working Plan. Like steel, it feeds into a huge range of downstream products: transport, construction, packaging and electronics all depend on verified upstream aluminium data.
What a aluminium passport is expected to cover
- Recycled-content share and production route (primary vs. secondary smelting)
- Embodied carbon per tonne of material produced
- Alloy composition
- Presence of substances of concern
- Traceability of origin through the supply chain
Where it stands
A delegated act for aluminium is expected in 2027, alongside textiles and tyres. See the full rollout timeline →
